Isn't Christmas essentially Yule anyway? I still put up a tree and decorations and celebrate the day. It's not about religion to me but celebrating that the darkest part of the year is over with my family and friends.

Not...quite? I mean, Christmas falls when it does because of Yule, and it borrows elements from it, but Yule is on the actual solstice, so it falls a few days before the 25th. People who celebrate Yule don't celebrate it the same day as Christmas or in the same way.
