It might be a your-fandom-is-not-my-fandom thing, but in my animanga fandoms I see plenty.

In my last few fandoms, the only holiday-related exchanges were Christmas (sometimes framed as Secret Santas/otherwise non-denominational events) and Valentine's Day (or the following White Day).

The majority of events were set around e.g. characters birthdays, dates or number sequences relevant to canon, or random weeks/months the fandom decidesd to devote to a certain character or ship.

Like I said, that may have a lot to do with it not being a solely Western based fandom in the first place; using the character birthdays as an example, the Japanese fandom goes all out for those events with a flood of art, fan events and general celebrations so it makes sense for the Western side of fandom to match them. I don't know whether Western media makes as big a deal out of things like character birthdays in the same way.

If your fandom(s) is very Western-centric then it's probably going to follow more traditionally Western holiday conventions.
