(Anonymous) 2015-06-06 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)It's pretty common in historical stuff, but even in stuff where the setting is COMPLETELY FICTIONAL (like fantasy worlds).
Like, damn, I get enough of this bullshit angst and worry IRL, I do not want to read about it in fiction! Find a new source of conflict for the characters! I would love to read something where the two main characters are gay, but they don't die, and the angst doesn't revolve around "we can never be together b/c we're gonna get murdered SO ROMANTIC", but instead is just normal romantic comedy cliches complete with an airport reunion at the end.
I JUST WANT HAPPY FLUFF TO READ DAMMIT.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-07 04:08 am (UTC)(link)I like a little wavering, "is it okay that I like this boy?" angst but when it's laid on thick with homophobic parents throwing lamps or bullies using slurs or MURDER that's where I gotta check out.
