Aaaaaaand this right here is why I don't like reading media about LGBT rights or fanfic that is focused solely on characters angsting about all the horrible things that are going to happen to them.

It's pretty common in historical stuff, but even in stuff where the setting is COMPLETELY FICTIONAL (like fantasy worlds).

Like, damn, I get enough of this bullshit angst and worry IRL, I do not want to read about it in fiction! Find a new source of conflict for the characters! I would love to read something where the two main characters are gay, but they don't die, and the angst doesn't revolve around "we can never be together b/c we're gonna get murdered SO ROMANTIC", but instead is just normal romantic comedy cliches complete with an airport reunion at the end.

I JUST WANT HAPPY FLUFF TO READ DAMMIT.

I get this too anon <3

I like a little wavering, "is it okay that I like this boy?" angst but when it's laid on thick with homophobic parents throwing lamps or bullies using slurs or MURDER that's where I gotta check out.
