I'd like fandomsecrets to end soon, not out of malice however. I feel like it's ran its course and anons forcing secrets to stay active is the biggest tell.

I do wish that more people would submit secrets (real or otherwise; I have no problem with secrets purely for the sake of discussion), but as long as people are still coming here I'll be happy. I feel like sometimes GC almost gets more traffic than page 1, but I don't fault people for that because this is one of the last active comms I know of and it's a good place to start a conversation. Communities have always been a big part of my fandom experience, so if/when this place dies... I'll be quite sad. (And probably slip back into lurkerdom, which while enjoyable is not the same. I want to talk about shit with other people.)

I submit secrets frequently, and get like 5 comments at most. :-\

To be fair, if people don't know your fandom (Especially if it's an obscure one) that's to be expected. Some of my secrets have gotten only a couple comments too, but if people don't know it they won't have much to say.

I try to comment on some secrets even when I don't know the fandom, but often the comments are pretty pointless and shallow, lol.

(If you keep submitting) I hope you have better luck in the future!

NAYRT (which will be obvious) - I agree. And I think one of the "problems" is that fandoms are so scattered anymore, including on FS but certainly not limited to. Someone was saying how she doesn't have fandom friends on LJ anymore, and being able to relate I went to her profile to see if we had at least one in common... we didn't. There really aren't that many fandoms a lot of people are collectively into.

I never know the fandom, so generally I just comment on things that I can at least add something to if it's a broad enough secret.

And this is why I honestly wish I had secrets that people could relate to regardless of fandom. (Those are maybe the best secrets, since no one needs to be 'excluded' for not being familiar with the source material.) Mine tend to be specific and often about things that almost only I care about.

I went to her profile to see if we had at least one in common... we didn't

This doesn't even surprise me. Maybe its because there's so much to choose from (tv, books, movies, games, comics, podcasts, webcomics, youtubers, etc), but it feels like it's becoming harder and harder to find people (especially at smaller places like f!s, where there's a lot of variety) who share the same fandoms as you. (Even more-so if we're talking multiple fandoms. That's damn near impressive.)

Unless we're talking massive fandoms that most people know about (MCU, Disney), or cult favorites, then getting responses is going to be hit and mess.

(For me, that isn't a reason to stop bringing those fandoms up or making secrets about them. If anything it makes me want to bring them up more, in the hopes that someone will be interested and want to check it out themselves. I've had it happen before, so it isn't impossible!)

I don't get this attitude at all. If it's run its course for you, why are you still here? Plenty of us still enjoy this place and come here all the time because we like it, not out of habit. I would be sad if it ended and I don't think I'm the only one.

Seriously. I wonder if this is one of the trolls who's been stirring the pot?

I feel on the fence about this, mostly because f!s was created for the purpose of venting unpopular opinions. After the dead of lj and people moving to tumblr for fandom experience, the secret count has been pretty low. The fact that people with tumblrs rather stay in their own dash and (reasonably) not search the tags for fear of encountering stupidity influences this.

Also fandom in general is slowly migrating to twitter to flounce from hardcore SJW and because twitter is becoming fashionable on tumblr. It also helps that twitter is more suited for conversations and has less glitches.
