Uh...so you mean people who complain about fandoms as a whole? (Like, "MCU fandom is terrible"?)

Or do you mean complaining within each fandom (about the source material)? Cause I feel like having complaints about something doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it, and there's nothing wrong with critiquing what you like. The same goes for the fandom itself if it doesn't satisfy you, just...don't be a dick about it. (Many fandoms, especially the big ones, have fans of varied personalities/tastes and while you might have a problem with some of them, there are almost certainly others that are perfectly nice and cause no trouble.)

People who complain about fandoms as a whole

If you're in a fandom, I get that there's going to be complaints. Fans are the most invested in the material so it makes sense that they're the most critical.

But it gets annoying when I have posts complaining about Supernatural crossing my dash and I'm not even IN the Supernatural fandom.

Or when people go on long rants about how MCU is "Klandom" -- it's just annoying because I'm actually part of the fandom and it's actually pretty easy to find support for POC characters and ignore BS.

Ah, I see where you're coming from. In some cases I understand the complaints about fandoms, but I always try to take them with a grain of salt. I've been in some of the biggest, most 'annoying' fandoms (maybe not recently) and found nice people and places to hang out. There are certainly different pockets of fandom, and sometimes the wank is quite difficult to find (unless you're actively searching for it).

Maybe I'm not deep enough, but I've had generally positive experiences in the majority of my fandoms.

(I've never heard the term "Klandom", btw...but I don't think MCU fandom is all that bad.)

I wrote a piece of Sam Wilson meta and it was tagged with Klandom the other day.

I didn't get why at all, though, since it was completely positive as far as I could tell. Made me a bit hesitant to keep posting about him, though, I'll admit.

What is "Klandom" even supposed to imply? (Just...racism?) I don't understand this (especially given the context...it seems like an overreaction, but I suppose that's common with fandom).

I don't know. :/

This was the post in question:

http://bana05.tumblr.com/post/120390981723/sam-wilson-rileys-death-and-ptsd-trigger

(I'm stormy-stormy-high, the original poster).

I didn't get why it was tagged klandom. I guess the user thought there was something racist about my post? I don't know. It wasn't meant to bash Sam or anything.

I LOVE Sam and it was a point about him that I hadn't seen brought up before so I thought it would be cool to mention it.

I honestly have no idea what that person's problem is, because all you did was bring up that Sam must have had an absolutely excruciating time getting over the death of his partner. You can tell he's seen some shit in the film, and he's honest about it...bringing up PTSD is valid.

IDK man, sometimes fandom is weird. I wouldn't worry about it, though.

Ohhhh, so you're pissed off because people have called you out on your shit.

Suddenly the entire thread makes so much more sense.

wat

No - I never even followed that person. It was just something I didn't get. I made the secret after I had to unfollow my favorite fanfic writer because she wouldn't stop ranting about Teen Wolf and Supernatural (both are fandoms I don't follow and don't care about).

SA

If you could tell me what's racist about my post though, please do.

I still haven't figured out why she tagged it as klandom.
