I agree. I mean, before I was into Doctor Who (but back when way more people I knew were - basically my entire flist*), I didn't get any of the references, but I tolerated them. I found the people getting their panties in a twist about the show far more annoying.

*Naturally those same people largely lost interest around the same time I finally got around to watching it.

Uh...so you mean people who complain about fandoms as a whole? (Like, "MCU fandom is terrible"?)

Or do you mean complaining within each fandom (about the source material)? Cause I feel like having complaints about something doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it, and there's nothing wrong with critiquing what you like. The same goes for the fandom itself if it doesn't satisfy you, just...don't be a dick about it. (Many fandoms, especially the big ones, have fans of varied personalities/tastes and while you might have a problem with some of them, there are almost certainly others that are perfectly nice and cause no trouble.)

People who complain about fandoms as a whole

If you're in a fandom, I get that there's going to be complaints. Fans are the most invested in the material so it makes sense that they're the most critical.

But it gets annoying when I have posts complaining about Supernatural crossing my dash and I'm not even IN the Supernatural fandom.

Or when people go on long rants about how MCU is "Klandom" -- it's just annoying because I'm actually part of the fandom and it's actually pretty easy to find support for POC characters and ignore BS.

I'm really feeling this way about the Frozen hate tbh.

Like, we get it, you hated the movie, it was literally the worst movie Disney's put out, any attempt at finding something positive needs to be IMMEDIATELY shut down because Frozen is LITERALLY HITLER.

But honestly, yeah, I'm still hearing about Frozen! But only from the people who hated it, and keep blogging/reblogging about how much they hated it. If you want people to stop talking about it, then you guys need to let it go.

Like I've never even seen the movie and yet I see SO much hate against it and I don't get. Just ignore it for god's sake. It's not difficult.

If you have kids or younger siblings I might grant an exception but at this point I just find the hate mind-boggling.

I get what you mean, I typically find the haters of anything far more annoying than the fans because I can escape the fans by not going into their spaces, the haters though? They get everywhere.

There are a couple of exceptions I can think of tbf, but generally if I'm not actively in the fandom I wont see the annoying fans, so I don't care.

They're easy to ignore, and I can appreciate why some people might dislike something. It's nothing to take personally.

What I find annoying is those complaining about the complainers. They disrupt the flow.

While I agree to a point, there are some fandoms so terrible that they truly deserve the slack they get.

I totally get what you're feeling. However I believe it's a case by case basis with each fandom.

In the fandom I'm in, whoever says that they dislike the current events of the series is labeled a "hater" and constantly harassed(anon hate; nasty posts about them by bnfs) by the fans who like the series' arc. They also go on about how the fandom is a "safe place" and any negativity is unneeded and ridiculous. I wish the fandom would learn that there's a difference between "haters" and people who are fed up about fandom pretending there's nothing wrong with the series.
