Yes, because courts are never wrong and no wrongful conviction is ever made.

Also don't worry about your reputation at all, even if the slander is absolutely detestable like an accusation of rape or pedophilia.

Nah, sorry, everyone has the right to defend themselves- feminist or no.

everyone has the right to defend themselves

In court. Everyone has the right to defend themselves in court.

Much like innocent until proven guilty is a legal guarantee the right to defend yourself only extends to the legal field.

In public, people may not have the right to force you not to defend yourself, but just because you have the right to do something, does not mean you are morally right to do it.

How can it be morally wrong to defend oneself against a false accusation? This whole equation is like opposite-land. The bad person is the one making false accusations, not the one defending themselves.

Yes, the person making the false accusation is also in the wrong but the victim is the woman watching this who now finds it harder and harder to speak up and seek justice. A feminist man would / should want to make things easier for her. The only way to do that is to not add to the voices claiming women are lying about rape.

No, the best way to do that is to teach women not to lie about rape. Because THEY'RE the ones making things worse for the women telling the truth, not the guy they're lying about.

1) Men doing that wouldn't stop people from assuming women lie about rape. People assume that because we have a lot of fucked up attitudes about sex and women, and some men martyring themselves to the cause wouldn't change them.

2) If these men don't defend themselves, go to trial, and even just one is found innocent, then everyone still gets to say, "that woman was lying! See? WOMEN LIE ABOUT RAPE!" This is because, again, there are fucked up social attitudes and people are just looking for confirmation of them.

The action you're proposing wouldn't do anything to fix the problem.

"The victim is the woman who now finds it harder and harder to speak up and seek justice" because another WOMAN lied about getting raped, not because the man denied that it happened.
Please be a troll. You can't seriously be that stupid.

lol no. You have it backwards. You can say whatever you like about a situation and whatever libel or slander pertains to you as long as you don't press charges. If you do go to court about it, then you are barred from discussing the case publically until a verdict is reached.

The trouble with that is that by the time that happens the damage might already be done.

So yeah, that's what free speech is for really. It means you can say whatever you want about a person or an ideal but everyone else (even the people you said the thing about) are also free to disagree with you.

You can't, actually, say whatever you want about someone, even with free speech (see the aforementioned libel and slander, also uttering threats, etc.)

Well, I guess you can, you'll just be legally liable ;p

I meant in terms of refuting claims about one's character, not calling all Jews witches or whatever rocks your hate boner.
