(Anonymous) 2015-06-10 01:37 am (UTC)(link)It's just outright admitting the self-insert wish fulfilment nature of a lot of fanfic (eg. Mary Sue fic and a lot of slash fic tbh), but just putting it out there and going "yep this is all about you enjoy."
I mean, it's not really my thing, but I can admire it for the sheer id-fulfilling honesty of it. That's probably why it's popular.
Mary Sue fic is wish fulfilment for the author. Reader insert fics are wish fulfilment for everyone who's reading. So I guess you could say they're more generous?
