Text: I like my originally-M/M ships both as they are and genderbent in any way.
But I seldom like my other ships genderbent.
Het, in particular, I prefer as-is, or in rare cases, genderswapped so it’s still het.

I think this in itself is alright.

But the fact that the only pattern I can see for this among my ships is by canon gender really makes me wonder what’s behind my preferences.

Huh. I think I'm like that, but only with femslash. I'll flip everything else in every which combo (turning het to slash for instance, and vice versa), but I can't think of any f/f off the top of my head that would make me go, "Hell yeah I'd slash them as dudes too!", and imagine all the differences or ways they'd carry themselves, if I pictured an interesting difference anyway. I'm sure if I trawl through what I remember shipping I'll come up with something... probably the RWBY ones actually now that I am. My Ruby (or would he be Garnet?) ships would totally have a new cuteness for me!

Whoops anywho, I think your prefs are alright too. Once you start going deeper and all psycho analyzing what you like for instant gratification in fandom you start to double-check whether you're allowed to like things. Now that would be so dumb.

I don't know what's behind your preference but it seems like a harmless enough thing to like.

Me, I'm not much for genderswap fic. I've read it on occasion, but almost always would rather read fic with the characters as their canon gender.

That said, I dig genderswapped fanart. (I've seen some good Disney stuff! In particular a female beast that is adorable.)

I would totally read a genderbent universe fic for BatB.

extra awesome if it's in comic form because female!Beast is so cute and I love her dress and because male!Belle is prettier than most canon Disney princes

Yea! I always thought canon Beast was cute, but female!Beast is maybe the cutest Disney character I've ever seen, her clothes are rad and the design is perfect, and male!Belle is a massive babe. I'm almost sad I found it because I want a whole lot more of it.

I have a slightly different genderbending quirk: I like genderbending but only when the couple in question is being genderbent so its f/f.

...I am a big old lesbian though, so maybe that's not too odd.
