I love that Coulson (or his actor I'm not sure who OP is calling old) is only three years older than RDJ (who is fifty by the way) but because he's not "cute" or attractive to as many people, he's old?

I think the people calling him old are just very, very young. Like, they think anyone over 30 is old, and they don't even have an accurate picture of what 30 looks like.

Eh, I don't think it's just that. He's aging almost like a normal person, so he really does seem old compared to most of his co-stars. Ming-Na Wen and RDJ might be close to his age, but they're both quite well-preserved, so he ends up looking a little frail next to them. It probably doesn't help that there were moments in AoS where other characters would comment on Coulson's age, whereas that wasn't a plot point with May or Tony.

Neither Robert nor Ming-Na has got that receding hairline, for instance. That's a big 'old person!' flag for viewers.
