I like Zoe, but Cumberbatch and Freeman can go fall in a volcano for all I care.

Idk they just give off a really bad vibe, at least to me anyway.
Also their fucking obsessive and annoying fanbase has kinda turned me off from them forever. And I'm dreading the day their stans come roaring into the mcu fandom, ugh.

+1. I do remember some asshole Zoe Saldana fans back in the Star Trek reboot fandom, but that was part of the Kirk/Spock (if you don't ship it you're a homophobe) vs Spock/Uhura (if you don't ship it you're a racist) wars. Both sides were pretty awful.

I haven't seen those fans following her around and writing crossover epics where all her characters show up in her other fandoms. Can't say that for the other two.

Same, got no beef with her. Cast Zoe in everything. I won't necessarily go out for all of it, but I have liked her since Center Stage.

Honestly Zoe makes no sense in this secret. These guys are overrated but Zoe is underrated. A white actress with an imdb page smaller than her would be everywhere for real now.
I feel she is the one here who has earned her popularity only through her job because as part of a minority in hollywood it was much harder for her than these guys.

It seems bad taste OP, tbh. You can't compare the FEW more popular woc that get more roles than awerage in their group, to white british men who got popular because they play white british men in a tv-show that has a huge female fanbase.

If you think she's unconvincing (the way I do) then her success is as puzzling as Freeman and Cumberbatch's. ALL of them, in my opinion, are massively overrated. Yeah, the challenges in Hollywood are more difficult for minority women but that doesn't make her automatically good. Sorry.

Oh, and Saldana herself would disagree with you:

It's not "in bad taste" -- I think she's a bad actress and want her replaced with an actress I find convincing. If they cast a different Afro-Latina actress (one I DID find convincing) then I'd be over the moon.

I also don't understand what you are trying to say with this. What the hell does having a female fanbase have to do with anything?

I don't like them BECAUSE I THINK ALL OF THEIR ACTING SUCKS AND I DON'T FIND THEM CONVINCING AND THEY ARE IN MULTIPLE OF THINGS I LIKE. Which is frustrating as hell because when I see them pop up on screen and try to act it's always, "Oh great, there's (name) again."

here's the thing though: even if Zoe believes that racism doesn't affect the career and popularity of black women in hollywood (misinterpretation of out of context quotes - contradicted by her other interviews too - aside), it would be just her opinion (like ours) and wouldn't prove that racism is actually over, and that woc have the same chances white actresses have. I think there is enough evidence suggesting otherwise, so the few actresses that become more popular probably have to work a tiny bit more to ALMOST get the recognition that the average Jennifer Lawrence or Kristen Stewart (or Katherine Heigl, before her career crashed because she's too difficult) get. Are you aware, also, that someone like Zoe Saldana doesn't make half of the money for her LEAD roles that the above mentioned actresses make?

I don't think Zoe is in the same category as Jennifer Lawrence and Benedict Cumberbatch, I don't find her THAT overrated. I think the only reason her career seems to be impressive to you is because she's black and hollywood has few successful black women. Had Zoe been white, her IMDB page wouldn't look particularly big to you and her being popular wouldn't seem as anything different than what happens with A LOT of actresses that are liked and have fans, but it's a bit more quiet and they don't get all the magazine covers and awards.
I don't see Zoe Saldana's fans 'invading' (using your own words, not mine) the MCU fanbase the way Benedict Cumberbatch's stans do with every franchise where the guy makes an appearance. Her popularity seems to be more comparable to that of Chris Pratt and Karen Gillan in that their fans are happy they got a new role in this franchise but they don't act like the whole franchise is about them or should be about them only and they are the only thing that should get praised and loved.

I get your opinion and you don't have to like Zoe Saldana but I think you're making it a bit too tragic here and it shouldn't be that hard for you to deal with the fact that other people (and directors) have their own opinions too and those are different from yours. I honestly struggle to believe that she's in the category of those actors that you can't absolutely avoid even if you try to.
Even if she's part of some of your fandoms, there must be other characters and actors that you like and you really aren't forced to care about her roles or hang with people who like her and read posts about her.
The whole 'I want them to go away' sounds very childish too. I don't like Benedict Cumberbatch and Jennifer Lawrence for the same reasons you don't like Zoe and even though they are far more popular than her and have more pervasive fanbases, I really don't find it so hard to avoid 'them' when I want to. Expecting everyone to dislike certain things and certain celebrities just because you do so that these things and people 'go away' and you don't have to deal with them anymore is stupid, you're a free human being who can make a choice and be selective with what you like and the media you want to consume.
I hope you find a fandom, also, where you like everything and every actor in it but personally I think it's a bit rare.

You're ignoring the simple problem I have with Saldana: I don't find her convincing as an actress. Do black women face discrimination in Hollywood? Absolutely and a lot of them have discussed it and frequently.

There's great actress like Jada Plinkett Smith. Viola Davis. Rosario Dawson. Lupita N'yonga. Kerry Washington. And one of my favorites: Angela Bassett

Not all black women are going to have EXACTLY the same experience and so while all will experience discrimination, there are degrees of it -- and Saldana clearly doesn't feel her race impeded her career as significantly as others might have experienced to have said what she said.

I included her because she (like Freeman and Cumberbatch) are in three of my biggest fandoms: Star Trek, MCU, and the Hobbit. Cumberbatch is the worst (obviously) being in all three. But given that I don't like any of them, it's frustrating to have to see multiple people I dislike repeatedly.

I actually only looked at that site because I saw the numbers for Cumberbatch on celebrity net worth and they seemed low to me. I was surprised that he only had $15 million give how freaking prolific he is.

I didn't read the whole thing.

I looked at celebrity net worth and saw Saldana at $14 million, and Cumberbatch and Freeman at $15 million.

But Cumberbatch's, in particular, seemed low given how many fucking things he's appeared in so I looked at other sites and found his article. Saldana had one there as well.

Either way, though, I hardly see how she's "underpaid." She earns basically the same as the other two dudes.
