I wish I could finish season 2. But I had to stop playing after a long cutscene and I don't feel like sitting through it again, so I just keep avoiding playing it. Excited about the news from E3 in regards to TWD!

What news? Is there a sequel or something?

Michonne is going to have a mini-season of three episodes.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-15 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Is it also going to be made by TellTale?

I would think so.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-16 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
that's a definitive yes, not "i would think so."

Yes.

I'm still really sore over Nick, Sarah, Christa, and Omid. Especially the first two, they had really interesting characters but their deaths if you kept them alive were so lackluster and paved over compared to Doug/Carley/Ben. I am hanging on the lone hope Christa is still alive, although it's very unlikely, and that Michonne's mini series will be as good as Season 1.

...Michonne's mini series?! Is there going to be a Walking Dead game starring Michonne (before she met up with the group)?! That sounds incredible!

Nevermind, googled it. This is cool!

OP

Ugh I know. That's one of my main problems. Nick is literally killed off screen and killing him as a walker is extremely anti-climatic and devoid of any emtion. Sarah and Clementime's relationship was built up a lot and it seemed to foreshadow that maybe Sarah could eventually grow up and Clementime would help her learn to defend herself. But nope! Let's give you a choice of wether to save her or kill her, and if you choose to save her, let's just kill her off anyway in like the most horrific way possible because lol who cares. (The way the fans and the creators treated Sarah was also pretty gross.)
And all that build up in S1 of Christa being pregnant, only to end up having a miscarriage off screen and Omid dying in like the very first scene just seems really lazy and like the writers had no idea what they were even doing.

Personally, I felt like Omid's death was one thing they did right. It was devastating, but what a great way to start the game, and the way Krista just offed that girl was like a slap to the face. It was like saying, "Welcome back to The Walking Dead!"

But I agree with the rest, totally. Krista disappearing was a total cop-out. Nick and Sarah felt like "You were supposed to let that person die. Now what do we do? Eh, dead." There were a lot of cases where it seemed like the game was really pushing for you to make a certain choice, and then either ignoring or punishing you for picking the opposite.

My first game through, I was really pushing to stick with Kenny, and I was pleased with my ending. The second time I pushed for Jane, and it was kind of shocking to me how many things stopped making sense. And the ending was definitely a "You chose poorly" moment compared to the emotional finale I got with Kenny--no closure, totally cynical. Which is why I really hope season 3 doesn't have Clementine. They really can't without picking a canon ending or immediately negating what happened, so here's hoping for a new cast.

OP here.

I personally thought the Kenny vs Jane angle was done poorly too.
I mean almost the entire fourth and fifth episode keeps trying to convince us over and over again that Kenny is crazy and bad and isn't safe to be around. It really tried its hardest to make it look like Jane was the better option in every aspect. But Janes ending is really crappy and boring compared to Kennys which is one of the few moments in the game that I thought was actually done well. It just makes no sense.

Not gonna lie, I cried a lot over Kenny in that last episode, no matter what I picked. I felt terrible watching him fall apart. And the second time, I was really looking forward to consoling myself with Jane and Clem being badass survivor sisters (it's still my headcanon that Krista made it to the Howie's with them). But like you said, her ending was terrible. I'm not even sure what they were really going for, other than they flat out expected you to side with Kenny and didn't know what to do with the other option.

The Wolf Among Us had some moments like that, too. Overall I hate that they're spreading themselves so thin, because it's starting to show.

I avoided a lot of the fandom for various reasons, but the run off from the grapevine concerning Sarah was...yeah, it wasn't good. It's a shame, because she did have a lot of potential, same as the other characters who were underdeveloped before being killed off. Heck, I would of even been okay if she and the others still died in the end, if their deaths actually mattered and had any sort of impact on the storyline. TWDG is so linear (which is another big issue, considering it's a game "tailored by how you play", hoo boy) so I get that determinant characters are killed off after one or two extra episodes. But s1 determinant characters actually had an impact on the plot, and had dialogue important to what was going on and how others reacted to you and events. In s2 you get a couple of additional but unnecessary conversations that add nothing and maybe a second spared for grief after they die (and Sarah dying in the SAME episode you can save her in, jesus). It was frustrating and disappointing, especially with the emphasis on family and team work versus going it alone.

Ahh, I could go on forever about this because I only recently finished s2, but I'll keep it in. Season 3 can only be better at this point.

Huh, I didn't realize TWDGS2 was so disliked. I wouldn't say it was on the same level as season one but then again it would've been very difficult for it to live up to that. I still thought the cast was good, the story kept me interested and parts of it were tense.

Plus, I loved Luke. (You shouldn't love people in these games...)

But...idk, I almost don't want there to be a season three featuring Clem, not because I don't love Clem (because I do, she's amazing) but because season two could end in such different places and I don't want anything retconned and I want our decisions to stick. If Telltale can find a way to make it work then okay, I just feel like after season two it might be a better idea to start with an all new cast. (Or, almost an all new cast. Wouldn't mind Christa showing up again. If I could remember who the hell else is alive I'd suggest someone else...there aren't many, lmao.)

Well, we have the new Michonne mini-series to look forward to. And given the timeline and the fact that you need to have played episode one of Season Two in order to play the mini-series, I have a feeling we might see some of the game's characters in there. I'm really hoping Christa makes an appearance there and we finally find out a bit more about what was going on with her.

[personal profile] elaminator 2015-06-18 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yea! I hope Christa shows up... Though maybe I shouldn't because if she does she will undoubtedly die, lol.

It would be cool to see Michonne interact with people from the game, though. The only one we've seen from the show was Glenn, right? (Well, and Hershel's gang, briefly.)
i_paint_the_sky: (Default)

[personal profile] i_paint_the_sky 2015-06-19 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Christa's chances probably aren't all that good whether she appears or not ... but it would be at least nice to know what happened. Particularly what happened to the baby.

Yes, Glenn and Hershel are the only comic/show character to appear, though Shawn Green is mentioned in both. So it definitely would be interesting, plus TellTale might be able to get Danai Gurira to play the role, like how the show actors voiced their characters for Game of Thrones, which would be awesome.

Though the game is 100% based on the comics continuity, so I might have to try and actually get caught up reading it, so I can understand the point that Michonne is at a bit better, though I think they'll do a decent job of letting the uninitiated know.

season 2 was rushed imo (what happened to all the 400 Days people besides Bonnie) but i didn't hate it. i thought there were some good moments and the ending still destroyed me.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-16 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
The rest of the 400 Days cast probably died in the Hardware store....unless you didn't recruit them! Still, it's unlikely they'll be revisited again in the future unless it's said they pulled off a Kenny-esque escape should they have been brought in by Tavia.
