(Anonymous) 2015-06-17 01:35 am (UTC)(link)I agree with OP that romance isn't the point of the show, and I'm not even all that invested in the characters, but even so, I feel like they crossed the point of no return with the femslash even before this latest episode, so I can't blame people for feeling cheated when the show tried to pull the straight card (especially given the guy in question).
Honestly, though, if it were up to me, the entire last episode would just be watching them play their concert. The way the light glints on the brass section in the opening... Damn. Gets me every time.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-17 03:43 am (UTC)(link)It baits Kumiko x Reina so hard, but the canon is that Reina is in love with the teacher and Kumiko and Shuichi get together.
When hints of that were in the anime people started freaking out. So just watch it for the band stuff, not the ships and save yourself the suffering.

(Anonymous) 2015-06-17 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)Either way, even if you do focus on shipping KumiRei, you'd have so much to work with. Even if it's not explicitly romantic, the novels explores and develops their relationship as a whole. You're not going to have a shortage of bait.
It's like the author never intended for the romance either. So I agree with you re: watching the show for the concert band. As far as I know the ShuuKumi sub plot is pushed towards the end of the 4th novel -- which is just a collection of short stories instead of being part of the main story line. It sucks because ~*~my pairing lost to underdeveloped het~*~ but eh.
