Re: No wank please

Late to the party, but even if I think "trans-abled" is a silly word, and wanting to be disabled is silly, I wouldn't tell anyone that they weren't disabled because I don't know that person and I don't know their medical history.

I was recently told on a popular support forum that I'm not naming because I don't want to start wank, that because I have "passing privilege" (meaning that you may not be able to tell by looking at me that I am disabled) I should be excluded from accessing support and using things for "real" disabled people in public.

I'd rather people were always given the benefit of the doubt by others than vilified for being a "fake". I've been yelled and cursed at for using the disabled toilets before. When I've used a chair previously I've had people approach me to tell me they "knew I was faking" because they saw my legs move. I have never claimed to be a paraplegic. People can be really thoughtless and revolting when they believe they're in the right.
