Correct. He is being prejudiced, and his prejudice has only hurt one white person in this instance.

Racism = prejudice (based on race) + power

Black people cannot by definition be racist against white people, because they are not systemically empowered to be 'over' white people.

But you can be a dick to white people, and you can be a dick to white people specifically because they're white people, and it's not racism but it's still bad and you shouldn't do it because being a dick to people is bad

All right, I'm genuinely wondering how someone who believes like you do would answer this question: Can someone of one non-white race be racist against another non-white race? Say, a black person be racist against Asians? Or since Asians are a "model minority" according to some, can they be racist against black people, but not vice versa? Is there a hierarchy?

NAYRT but I would think that since racism in this conception is basically something that comes out of structural power dynamics, the answer would have reference to that: whether or not racism exists against a given group is something that you can only understand by looking at the structural dynamics in the given society.

So black people and Asians, on this reading, can both be racist against each other, I think.
