Meh, but there are other white characters on the show that are way more interesting than Piper and Hot Donna. Nikki, Pennsatucky, the Bora Bora Bora chick whose name I'm forgetting, the silent lady, Red...

But damn, the two "leads" are really, really boring. I actually got up and left the room during their main scene in S2E1. It wasn't even intentional; I was just bored and wandered off to look for a snack.

All right, I'm genuinely wondering how someone who believes like you do would answer this question: Can someone of one non-white race be racist against another non-white race? Say, a black person be racist against Asians? Or since Asians are a "model minority" according to some, can they be racist against black people, but not vice versa? Is there a hierarchy?

I'm not in the fandom but that's unfortunate. Anyway, Suzanne, Poussey and Sophia are awesome but I don't find the others in the black "group" particularly interesting. In fact, some of them, like Runner Girl (forgot her name) annoy me more than Piper.

And to be fair, I think Piper is supposed to clash with everyone else - she's a "normal" upper middle class white woman, and most everyone else in the prison is really larger-than-life in characterization. Piper doesn't really stand a chance to be particularly captivating on the show.

Also: Pennsatucky is clearly the best white character, and also, character.

Eh I don't really think its a white vs black thing. It's more like every single character in the show is really likable and interesting, (aside from Healy and pornstache), annnnd then there's Piper.

Honestly, the way fandom (not just this fandom is particular) coddles black people is fucking annoying.

Yes, let's support black actors/actresses. Let's celebrate and promote black characters.

But the way criticism is stifled, opinions are dismissed or labeled racist for no good reason, and other POC are treated gets on my last nerve.

Regardless of whether or not POC people can be racist against White people, "casual racism" refers specifically to situations where racism is so ingrained into a society's expectations that it is expressed in an unconscious level through speech and other everyday actions (like institutional racism)

For example "He's Asian so he has to be good at math" "You speak good English for a Mexican" "You're pretty for a Black girl." Sure people getting bullied and mistreated just for being White is bad, but White people DO NOT suffer casual racism (I am referring specifically to race relations in the US)

Sure the fandom's behavior towards the white major characters may be "racist" but it sure as hell isn't "casual racism."
