For me: Supernatural. Stop with the GIF for everything thing. It was never funny.

Sherlock, but mostly the subset of fandom who's never read the stories and doesn't give a shit about any version of Sherlock Holmes that isn't Benedict Cumberbatch.

yeah, I'm going with Sherlock too. it was actually a pretty cool fandom for a little while after the show came out but something eventually went terribly wrong and it became the cesspool that it is today.

I was reading that wank report someone posted the other day and JFC. It's as insane as the Harry Potter fandom was in its heyday. I was never in the Sherlock fandom though I kind of liked the show and I read a few fics.

Thirding this. BBC Sherlock fandom! Where the crazy never ends!

I dunno. I think it can be funny.

I kind of hate the fandom I'm in right now sometimes? Wrestling fans are so salty, entitled and complain waaaay too much. And, for the most part, they aren't really that fun to fandom talk with.

Firefly. I had the misfortune of being around some really aggressive fans who would not let up about it.

The Browncoats are horrible people. Crazy aggressive like you say too. I have been physically threatened at a con for saying I didn't like Firefly. Sealioned over the course of a weekend by a group of stalkery fans and then threatened in the parking lot on the last day.

Doctor Who both for the ship wars and for the Moffat haters that expect everyone to agree with them. And generally the various sides of the fandom who talk about their opinions as objective fact and those who disagree with them as not real fans.

Make most en vogue TV fandoms go away please.

Gears of War. Not because they're horrible (maybe they are, I don't pay enough attention to them to know) but because there's an alarming lack of slash.

Uh...serious answer, Thor. (Mostly because people care way more about Loki than they do about Thor, and as someone who adores Thor I find that massively disappointing. Preferring Loki is fine, but it isn't the fandom I'd hoped for and I'm not super interested in it.)

So agreed on Thor. I want to fangirl about those movies so much, but everything in the fandom is about Loki. So I mostly stick to the Cap sides of fandom because there at least my tastes are the same as a lot of peoples.

Yea, Cap fandom is the MCU fandom for me. (As well as Daredevil.)

I walked out of Thor with all the Thor love and while I wanted a healthy side of Thor/Loki, what transpired was not to my tastes, lol.

But that happens. *shrugs*

I hung on in the Thor (okay, Thorki, specifically) for one very prolific author who loved Thor. Loved him and showed it, boy did they ever, and in retrospect I can now admit that some of those stories were really cheesy but whatever. Those fics were the only things I liked in that fandom.

I get you on the Thor side of things, I've thankfully found people to follow who post an equal amount of Thor and Loki, and in one case mostly just Thor, so I've got a nice amount of him on my dash. But yeah, I stay out of the larger Thor fandom because it's so skewed to Loki and I want both.

Any fandom that's a Flavor of the Month. I won't name any examples, because I think the definition could vary from per. I just don't like the instances where the fans get really in-your-face about them and badger you into seeing this movie/watching this show on Netflix/playing this video game. As someone who resents being pressured (or feeling that peer pressure), that's a good way to make my salt levels max out to sodium and not get me interested. The upside to FOTM fandoms is that they rarely last long after the initial surge of activity and kind of taper off into a non-annoyance not long after. Plus, there's always Tumblr Savior to lend a hand, so I can't complain too much.

Green Lantern was one that got on my nerves near the end of my involvement in it and the series. Not just the GLTAS side of things (that was a special brand of anxiety-inducing obnoxiousness, though), but the comic side of things was pretty irritating after a while. I'm glad I left it all behind (and tbh, trashing on it when given the chance to is like catharsis for me, ahaha).

Star Wars is definitely another one. But it's one of those where you have to find/carve out a niche of like-minded people if you want to have any hope of holding onto your love of the movies/franchise for any extended periods of time (or just avoid the fandom altogether). Unless you enjoy getting into internet slapfights with manchild pissbabies, then otherwise hey, go for broke.

The shippers in Naruto fandom. Sometimes I check on the tumblr tags for updates, but the amount of crazy shit I have to scroll through before finding normal content is really turning me off.

The Arrow fandom. It's honestly the most disgusting fandom I've ever seen. The way they treat the female characters and the actresses who play them is beyond anything I've ever seen. And I was in the Supernatural fandom.

Generally, that would be Sherlock BBC. At present, it's the goddamn Steven Universe folks.

Superwholock, though I feel it's kind of died down as a 'thing'. Maybe because Sherlock has become less popular, Dr Who fandom seems more like a hatedom at this point, and Supernatural should have ended in Season 5. (Dashcon certainly helped to kill it, I think.)

Homestuck. Jesus fucking christ, Homestuck. No, I am not ever going to read that comic, and I don't want to.

Steampunk. Not really a fandom, but I'm just so over it as a thing. Anyone who likes steampunk seems to be the cringiest sort of neckbeard.

Fannibals. I say this and I AM one, technically. To be fair, the majority of fans are super chill and just make pretty gifs and art and headcanons and stuff. There's just this small subset of people (mostly Hannigram shippers) that makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a fork. I'm also kinda disillusioned with the direction the show is going in - it feels less like the awesome creation it was in S1, and more and more like a televised fanfiction. I'm sure the Hannigram shippers are happy, though.

Sherlock, Star Trek and Star Wars. Mostly because of dashboard frequency.

It migh thave been just bad timing, but when I moved from my first fandoms ( which were anime/nanga) into various gaming fandoms, it was like being yanked from a snuggly warm bed and tossed out a window into a freezing, ice-choked lake.

So unpleasant I've more or less avoided fannish spaces since.
