Too trustworthy and naive can be attributed to the frozen for decades or being from another era thing. "Stubborn" is a classic Mary Sue trait, and so is self-righteousness... unfortunately due to Plot Armor Cap usually turns out to be right in the end so all is well. Aside from Civil War but really that whole thing was a mess all over

Stubborn is actually a fine trait when done correctly. It's a 'Mary Sue trait' when the character is stubborn but always turns out to be right anyway. Just like any other trait that's called a flaw but doesn't actually negatively impact the character except for making them wrongfully persecuted for their rightness.

Well I have to disagree that a trait should be considered a "Mary Sue Trait" for being misused, but YMMV.

How does being a product of his era negate those traits?? Their origin doesn't affect the fact they exist.

And well...what superhero doesn't have plot armor? That is a stupid argument. That means none of Batman's traits matter because he'll always be fine in the end?

It doesn't negate them but it excuses them a lot

Like how everyone who defends Superman will pull up the he's a lonely alien thing, because it is a valid excuse

I'm not arguing against plot armor the trope, I'm arguing that you can't list self-righteousness as a character flaw when comics Cap has been the writer mouthpiece of The Good Guys and the Side of Good since forever and turns out to be right all the time
