How do you motivate yourself to do work you need to do when you are sick and have no energy and just want to do mindless stuff? I have an essay due by midnight. It is only going to take me an hour or so when I actually do it, but I'm feeling so miserable I've been procrastinating all day.

It's hard to do anything when you're sick. I'd try a quick nap (no longer than a hour) followed by a hearty snack that doesn't shy away from fat/protein. Then I'd make myself a huge cup of tea and crack on with it.

I've been in the same place. I get frequent health problems that make it hard for me to move around sometimes. Just try to do as much of it as you can and take breaks. A looming deadline is usually motivation enough for me to get papers in, even if it's at the last minute. Though I don't recommend waiting that long. Just think, the sooner you get it done, the sooner you can go back to resting.

tbh I don't really motivate myself I just... do the job?

Like, if I know that whatever it is will only take x amount of time, and I'll have the rest of the evening free, I also know I'll be much less stressed out if I just get it out of the way. So it's only logical for me to get it done early so I can relax.
