Vet school?

(Anonymous) 2015-07-25 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm about to finish up my totally worthless degree in Didn't Fucking Plan Ahead, and it's been a long, tedious road to get here. I'm now faced with the reality that so many years later, I'm extremely in debt but not any closer to a career that might help me pay it off. I was so excited to be done with college, but now I'm wondering if I should try and push through a little more and try to go through vet school. Thoughts?

I hear vet school is expensive and vets don't make a lot. Don't quote me, but you should look into it, especially if you're already carrying debt.

Vet school is a long and expensive path, what did you study that makes it an option? There might be other options available. What kind of work do you think you'd be ok with?

They also really don't get paid much, even if they're a specialist. So you'll have to weigh the pros and cons and keep in mind the job itself could be quite stressful.

I also suggest you take a year off rather than pushing forward a little more, or you'll burn yourself out. You already regard your degree as worthless and saw the road as long and tedious, have a recharge break and try out differen things!

I was in the same situation. I had no after-college plans. I eventually got a great job so it worked out.

Honestly, more doesn't guarantee a job. If you really want to go to vet school, go for it! Otherwise, maybe take some time away from school to consider your options and look around for a job.

Good luck in whatever you do!
