Re: What's your berserk button?

Working at McDonald's was my first part time job, and the people who ordered fries without salt were the MOST annoying. They wanted like, the freshest fries, because they knew we would have to cook a special new batch just for them. And I'm fairly certain, 99% of the time, they would just add their own salt right after anyway. It was just a massive inconvenience for everyone, made other customers' orders slower, and usually so fake. tbh the fries would never sit out that long anyway, doing rush times they were basically always "fresh". (and if you really want fries without salt, I'm not even sure why you're at McDonald's anyways, but whatever)

...sorry, that rant may have been off topic.

You need to switch to British style chips instead of fries, people want fresh fries all the time because they go stale so quickly. They are too thin to hold heat and flavour, if they are more than a minute or so old they are no good. Now proper British chips, they hold their flavour and heat, and even benefit from resting in the heat cabinet for ten minutes or so.

You're right that in the sense that within a minute after coming out of the fryer, they will basically taste a bit mushier (though no, they are hardly "stale" - which makes it even more funny why people want to order fresh batches. By the time they sit down, they might have maybe two fries that are really hot and crispy, and then they'll all taste the same.

Perhaps they wanted less salt than was typically dumped on the fries?

da
I've seen this EXACT hack on various websites though. "Don't want fries that have been sitting around? Order them saltless so they have to make them fresh! Then salt them yourself!"

Nothing wrong about doing that exactly, but I can see how it would be frustrating to the workers.

I get how frustrating that must be but it's also pretty shitty to constantly receive fries that are either limp and soggy or as hard as a rock because they've been sitting out or been re-fried
