Birthday on Sunday. Saturday we have contractors working on our house so I'll be keeping out of the way.

I'm hoping to get a lot of writing done. I have two writing challenges that I signed up for and they're both due in mid-August. One is written and I've gotten it back from the betas but work went crazy and I haven't gotten back to them or looked at that fic. So, it might need a lot of polishing. (I feel really bad about not getting back to them yet.)

The other story is turning out to be much more of a monster. I thought it would be a short story but it's not even halfway through so I'm a little panicked that I won't get it done in time (and it desperately needs a beta but I don't have one for this fandom).

They're working on making a covered entrance to our house.

Sidenote: I've noticed every time I've mentioned having to go to a birthday party, you mention cake. And that's funny because we never have cake. :)

We rarely eat cake at my house so birthdays are like...a cake party for me.

What birthday foods do you usually eat?

We usually go to the birthday person's favorite restaurant and just order big meals. We don't have room for dessert.

Contrarywise, for the kids we might have a cake but for my nephew's last birthday, they had brownies and for my niece, we had cupcakes. In the past we've had pecan pie for my dad and brother since they like that. And I like sticky buns for my birthday (which are actually a breakfast food). And blueberry glop is a favorite we do sometimes.

Mostly ice cream is our staple if we do anything. Our only annual cake it the rum cake we make at Christmas.
