I thought "Nobody would admit to being a bully" anon up there was being ridiculous, but now that I've read the whole thread, maybe they have a point.

I'm very willing to admit I was a bully, though. Maybe it's because my school was small and teachers almost always noticed bullying when it happened and made us apologize. For some reason I was stupid and did it anyway. Me and almost all the rest of the class always made fun of a kid who smelled bad, me and my friends taunted a girl in a younger grade who was "weird" and "babyish"... but she became one of my best friends a few years later. Then she and I made up mean songs about guy in another class about how he was fat and a crybaby. I think that was it.

Don't worry, though. By middle school I was the one getting picked on, and by high school I had no friends and was the weird one who got talked about behind her back all the time.

I don't think it's ridiculous. If you look at real life schools, there aren't that many bullies. You imagine kids fighting each other and bickering all the time, which does happen, but you have to keep in mind at least 50% of those are the victim party lashing out defensively. Someone had to start it, and the starters? are usually the same few kids, even if many more are involved in the incidents over time.

I'm very willing to admit I was a retaliatory asshole, but not a bully. As soon as they stopped, I'd stop. Like most kids, I only wanted to be left alone.
