First thread I opened on Reddit detailed the fact that you have to OPT OUT of sharing YOUR WiFi AUTOMATICALLY with everyone you're connected to on social media.

Don't know, don't want to know, don't care.

so how do i know that what you're posting isn't just a heap of BS?

Oh noes, you have to click "no" when you're installing it! How terrible!

Way more detailed than that, nonny. I can't find the thread now, but it was listed as a "first thing to do when you install Windows 10" tutorial, and went through the steps of what you have to do to opt out.

...so, I'm just going to get another flavour of Linux going, personally.

And I've upgraded one of my computers, and it is NOT that complicated. It's literally a single on/off switch that you toggle during installation, same with every other data-sharing option. If your idea of "complicated" is going down a list and checking "off" on everything, then I don't know what to tell you.

I don't blame anyone who goes for Linux instead of Windows, but for the love of fuck, 10 is not as scary or terrible as everyone in this thread is making it out to be.

The fact that it defaults to on rather than off is a problem, because if it cocks up your preferences during an update or patch (which Windows is a bit notorious for doing), it means it'll flip back to on. Having to remember to check that your settings are still your settings every time you update is a pain in the ass.

Nope, sorry, that's incorrect. What it is is a program/app, where one of your friends can bring their computer to your house, and you can choose to share your wi-fi with them automatically by clicking on the app. It doesn't extend outside your house, doesn't reveal your password, and can be disabled at any time, including within the household members. Primarily, it's so you don't have to bust out a 20-character password every time someone wants to check their email.
