Re: Windows 10
(Anonymous) 2015-08-02 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)Re: Windows 10
(Anonymous) 2015-08-02 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)Way more detailed than that, nonny. I can't find the thread now, but it was listed as a "first thing to do when you install Windows 10" tutorial, and went through the steps of what you have to do to opt out.
...so, I'm just going to get another flavour of Linux going, personally.
Re: Windows 10
(Anonymous) 2015-08-03 11:55 am (UTC)(link)And I've upgraded one of my computers, and it is NOT that complicated. It's literally a single on/off switch that you toggle during installation, same with every other data-sharing option. If your idea of "complicated" is going down a list and checking "off" on everything, then I don't know what to tell you.
I don't blame anyone who goes for Linux instead of Windows, but for the love of fuck, 10 is not as scary or terrible as everyone in this thread is making it out to be.
Re: Windows 10
(Anonymous) 2015-08-03 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)The fact that it defaults to on rather than off is a problem, because if it cocks up your preferences during an update or patch (which Windows is a bit notorious for doing), it means it'll flip back to on. Having to remember to check that your settings are still your settings every time you update is a pain in the ass.
