I don't think consent meaningfully exists as a concept in regards to a non being?

Hell, we should be straight stripping people for organs once they're dead without consideration of whether they 'consent' or not.

I would rather we make the system opt out instead of opt in as it is currently

So if someone has some religious concern about what happens to their body, fine, but they have to check a box to not be included as opposed to check a box to be included

Japan has a religious/cultural push against organ donation, and it's just increasing the usage of organs from China (which aren't always ethically sourced, so to speak.) Until we get better at growing organs in labs, the dead will have to be a resource.

I think the wishes of people before they die as to what to do with the body they've lived in for years, should count for something.

The wealthy used to be buried with their finery so it could go to the afterlife with them. That's considered ridiculous and wasteful now, and their finery is inherited, sold, or otherwise put to good use. I think organs should be the same.
