I mean I agree that over-specialness is a bit of a flaw in Tamora Pierce's writing (though considering that they're ultimately children's books - is it so wrong for girls to have some fancy God-chosen sparkly adventurers too? When I was younger this stuff bothered me a lot less), but Name of the Wind was a hundred times worse.

Because major producers and such aren't interested in portraying women like real human beings half the time, or moving outside of tired, overused shells of a female character.
