Like secret #8 mentioned, it's pretty rare to find polyamorous relationships in media. But there are at least some out there. Which one is your favorite?

Or if you just can't think of one, are there any characters from a certain show/whatever where you honestly think that a polyamorous relationship would work really well for them for whatever reason?

You say there are at least some but I sure can't think of any.

Edit: Oh god I just thought of one but Anita Blake makes me want to spit acid. That's not polyamoury, that's a reverse harem.

I feel kind of embarrassed to admit that I watch the show Mistresses let alone enjoy it (but god help me, I do) and I'm not sure if anyone here is even familiar with it, but I really like the polyamorous relationship between Karen, Vivian, and Alec. I've missed the past two episodes so it could have gotten fucked up by now for all I know, but I thought the progression of it was more or less realistic considering that all three people involved had never previously been in a polyamorous relationship which led to them having some trouble navigating and adjusting to the whole thing even though they all wanted it to work

No canon ones come to mind, but I've got two OT3s that I think could have easily been canon with just a few tweaks to the script. Namely, Don/Kathy/Cosmo (Singin' in the Rain) and Miguel/Tulio/Chel (The Road to El Dorado).

Miguel/Tulio/Chel is almost canon.

I really wish Miguel/Tulio/Chel had been a thing. It does seem so fitting. I think eventually after a lot of blow-ups and jealousy they'd all settle down happily together.

I misread "blow-ups and jealousy" as "blowjobs and jealousy", lol.

I would especially read it if there was a jealous blowjob.

Hell yes to Miguel/Tulio/Chel, while I logically knew that they wouldn't go there, because kids movie, I was still disappointed that they didn't end up in a poly relationship at the end(but I like to headcanon that they do eventually).

I can't think of any canon ones. Looks like there's at least one out there, based on what one of the anon commenters said, but...yeah.

For polyamorous relationships that I think would work: it'd take quite a bit of time to build up to it, especially given the social constraints of the world, but Kaladin, Adolin, and Shallan from the Stormlight Archive. Their dynamics with one another just lend them to being a threesome to me.

I can't think of ANY canon polyamorous pairings. Maybe like... polygamy... did anyone else watch that Mormon reality TV show? sister wives? hahaha

I could swear I skimmed a fantasy series that had a poly group of spellcasters who shared magic through psychic bonds. The title was something about compasses and serpents? Other than that, the only canon poly relationships I've seen have all involved nonhumans. (I guess the poly sapient chimps in The Uplift War were kind of charming, but I was soured on that book after the out-of-nowhere pro-religion speech.)

I have no idea who these characters are or what show they're from, but their disgusted expressions in that gif are highly intriguing to me. What is it that's disgusting them so much?

And not gonna lie, I am also intrigued by the prospect of another potential almost-canon OT3.

Idc that they're not technically canon, they're canon in my heart and that's what matters.

The main trio in girl genius. Or, it will be is the wife gets her way.

I mean, there's Big Love, there's the not great way the one in Threesome developed, there's the terrible way it's even suggested in Chasing Amy, Summer Lovers was kind of sad in parts, The Dreamers is just messed-up.

I think Hardison/Parker/Eliot(Leverage) and El/Peter/Neal(White Collar) would work well. Plus, I agree with an above poster about Don/Kathy/Cosmo. Oh, and I think the Butch/Sundance/Etta subtext was so, so close to text.

Fuck yes, how could I have forgotten that one?! (I'm the anon who mentioned Don/Kathy/Cosmo.) Such a fantastic movie too, the shippy subtext is the perfect icing on top of a perfect cake.
