Valar are like gods in Silmarillion is all I know.) Tolkien had so many characters, some of them are only mentioned by name... The one time I tried to RP, it was Withnail and I, and I had to pick a minor character, couldn't choose though.

But I like working with little characterisation, as I can play my pet character types. One of the more stressful RP characters (and very rewarding too) is Boromir, because he does have background, both from LotR canon and from the fanfic that inspired me to RP him.
