Devil's Advocate

Since all you seem to love playing this.

Post a controversial opinion you do not hold. Then argue in support of that opinion as logically and reasonably as possible.

Ex.
No: Religion is good because I believe blindly in God and that's my personal opinion.
No: Religion is evil because I am a stupid atheist lolol *adjusts fedora!
Yes: Religion is good/evil because of all the good/evil that people do in the name of religion.

Everyone else's job is to make you defend your statement from every angle they can think of.

Remember, the original statement has to be something you do not agree with!

The Star Trek reboot is a way for classic characters and imagery to be made accessible to a modern audience. The barriers to enjoyment of the classic series are simply too great; not just the special effects and sets, but the ham-handed 1960s "issue" episodes and the Shatner Factor. The entire conceptual ethos of the show is essentially gibberish to Millennials, so starting it over fresh, using a visual and conceptual language that makes sense to modern audiences, is simple good sense.

IA. I still think they fucked it up. It's trash. They had the chance to make something accessible yet still great. Instead they made shallow, throw away, badly written crap for the Tumblr generation.

I feel like most people failed to grasp the point of this game. It's sad.

Without the "issue" episodes and the cerebral themes, it's barely even Star Trek. Even Enterprise had a little of that.

Revitalizing Trek shouldn't mean turning it into Star Wars; it should mean reconnecting it to the literary science fiction roots lost when Gene had TNG written in-house.

Men should do mainly things - hone renovations and politics - and women womanly things -cooking and assisting men - because:
1 men a phisically stronger,
2 they're more emotionally stable and
3 it's traditional.

UPD scratch this, I gotta run.

Technology is bad because people become too reliant on it. Because it makes things easier, people will be less likely to bother to learn ways to do things without its help. Most people will never even learn how the technology they use works because even with access to learning resources, blindly using it is just easier, or they have no capacity to learn. The only long-term solution is to take it all away and re-adapt.
