Re: Pairings
(Anonymous) 2015-08-09 04:09 am (UTC)(link)Newest is from the book that I'm currently reading (and am only halfway through), Caroline Stevermer's A College of Magics, and I am definitely hardcore feeling the Jane/Faris. I don't know why I even mention it, since I am pretty sure that no one here has even read the book, and there's no fandom, and I'm fairly confident it's not going to be canon (because it's f/f and there's a character who's very obviously going to end up marrying Faris). But it's nice and fun and they're both good characters.
I don't consider any of my ships weird because why would I. But one obscure one that I was just thinking of was Ana Khouri / Ilya Volyova from the Alastair Reynolds novel Revelation Space, because it turns out that immortal cyborg Russian space pirates and time-displaced assassins traveling aboard a malfunctioning cyber-gothic starship fighting in an almost certainly doomed attempt to stop the extinction of the human race despite the deaths of almost all their friends and colleagues and the fact that they're being haunted by an alien ghost are extremely my shit. And also they have a really good sort of... "Both of us are cold, unfeeling motherfuckers but at the end of the day we've survived an enormous amount of shit, and the two of us are the only people who could even conceivably understand where the other one has been, so even though I won't admit it I actually do feel a lot of affection for you and will go to extraordinary lengths to save your life" kind of a dynamic going on. Anyway, I've never seen it discussed anywhere except I talked about it once on here with thene, I think, who doesn't post here anymore, and it got jossed with extreme prejudice in the next book, but what can you do.
(I don't actually ship exclusively from books, it just seems that way) (Root/Shaw forever)
