I don't remember specifics but I know I loved TAS as a kid, however, the left looks much, much better to me. The costume is more interesting and the art is nicer to look at. As for the lines, yes, I much prefer the first as well (reminds me of Riddler from the Arkham games, who they did a great job with), but maybe the dialogue was a bit more satisfying later on?

Not really. Riddler barely showed up in the later incarnations. This scene here is from his only major moment in the new series, and it was from the Superman TV show, no less.

As far as I can remember, once the change took place, he never actually uttered a riddle once.

Welp, that was a disappointing bit. He barely had any lines and they weren't even clever lines. (He should have at least taunted Supes while Bane was doing his thing.)

A Riddler who doesn't actually riddle isn't worth mentioning.
