I was afraid of this myself too. I had grown up with the spin-offs and loved them, then after the two reboot movies I figured I really ought to give the original a shot. But I figured I probably wouldn't like it.

To my surprise I really enjoyed it. On occasion, the cheap sets/SFX and ridiculous stunts can be cheesy, but I liked the characters and most of the stories were very engaging.

I also tried to watch the first few eps of classic Doctor Who and that was just so slow it got on my nerves. I'm currently watching The Man from UNCLE which looks better, but sometimes does suffer from pacing issues and I definitely miss a bit of character development.

Anyway, guess I'm saying that in this case I disagree, but I can totally see where you're coming from.

You should add 'The Avengers' to that list too. One of my favourites from that era - especially the Mrs. Peel episodes.
