I'm so tired of nerds obsessing over the super marketed movies and games. It feels it doesn't even matter the quality, throw enough money at making some hype and it's like racoons to trash.

I don't think skepticism towards marketing and a concern with quality makes you a hipster.

Not liking bad quality things doesn't make you a hipster. Assuming that anything that is well-marketed must be bad quality and lording yourself over anyone who likes something that is mainstream, however, does make you a hipster.

The post said that nerds like things that are well-marketed regardless of their quality. In other words, nerds like things that are well-marketed regardless of whether they're good or bad. Not that all well-marketed things are bad.

I refuse to watch movies, let alone lower myself to watch them in the theatre. If I wished to hang out with a bunch of illiterate proles devoid of talent or taste, I would visit my local library to talk about the latest chapter of 50 Shades of Grey (or hang out with my grandma.) My, what depths these banal idiots will sink to in an attempt to fill the empty void that is their lives. They make me sick. Sick!

Real art these days is found in the last place you would expect it: the internet. Once a bastion of lonely porn trolls living in their parents basement subsisting on Cheetos and other sugary snacks I would not dare put within 10 feet of my mouth, it has recently become a true beacon of the artiste. The thinkers. The individuals. The outcasts. The mavericks who dare think outside the box. People like me.

I typed this on my iPad. It's an Apple product. You might have heard of it, but I doubt you can afford it.

Surprisingly enough, I don't mind if I like things that are popular. I'm just tired of fandom at large following hype cycles and ending up burned more often than not.

The thing is, I like it because it was always something I enjoyed privately because I was embarrassed as a kid. I would rather it be commercial, high-quality and popular, rather than walking around covertly trying to enjoy my hobby. I like that there is just so much more of it around and that the comic book industry has been revitalized because of it. I like that we are getting live-action anime movies and all the things I would have loved to have seen as a kid are being funded because a lot of people genuinely enjoy a good story with all the action and fantasy those genres bring. Things that would never have seen the light of day, if it weren't for the success of these movies. The MCU is generally well done and has a wide appeal.
