(Anonymous) 2015-08-18 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)Post-Obama, one of the stock ways to establish "this is an alternate universe set in current day" is to have the PotUS be white.
Is it bad one way but not the other?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-18 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, now that I think about it I don't think I've ever seen an asian, hispanic, indian, etc president on on a tv show (I mean, I'm guessing there must be some examples out there, but none are coming to mind immediately)

(Anonymous) 2015-08-19 02:57 am (UTC)(link)I've still got the whole series on my shelf somewhere. It was a fun series, especially with the explanations of the American political process for Japanese readers who may or may not have any idea about what goes on here.
I also can't help but think that we'd be much better off now if Yamaoka had really won the 2000 election...

(Anonymous) 2015-08-19 12:39 am (UTC)(link)Post-Obama we had Samuel L. Jackson as POTUS in Big Game.
I think that says something about the US as a nation.
