am i the only one kind of bothered that there's only an image corresponding to Frozen and not to Tangled

or am I going crazy

[personal profile] solticisekf 2015-08-22 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a Tangled character with the word Frozen. Two in one kinda deal.

no, the image is from tangled. i guess they stuck the title frozen over it to show that the two movies are often lumped together/compared? disney can apparently only style girls with giant eyes and tiny button noses so they all look identical anyway

I've never been able to sit through Tangled. I always get up to... that scene in the pub? Maybe it'd have been different if I'd seen it in theater.

Now Frozen, I did see in theater, and I thought it was okay. I've never felt the need to watch it again though.

Whereas I thought Tangled was adorable, yet Frozen annoyed me too much with how scattered the plot was. If I had to rewatch, I'd rewatch Tangled.

...though, I admit I like Let It Go.

IA. Tangled's a fine movie, but simply not as memorable. Though for me it might be because Frozen's a musical and I do love those.

Yeah, I'd agree, Tangled didn't really feel like a ... full on Disney movie to me? It was cute, and enjoyable, but mostly forgettable. I think it was because it didn't have much singing, and none of the songs that were there were very memorable. The animation was pretty, but everything else felt pretty cheap. I'm not saying it didn't have interesting moments, but the overall feel just wasn't very epic.

I don't even think the plot of Frozen is all that great. But something about it definitely felt a lot more epic than Frozen. Whether it was the awesome and memorable songs, the larger scale of the adventure, or just that the story was a little more unique, idk.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-22 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. I thought Tangled was ok, but I adored Frozen. (Admittedly my close relationship with my sister might give something of a bias in choosing which of the movies I like better.)

(Anonymous) 2015-08-22 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. And I am speaking as someone who has seen Frozen well over a hundred times, and not by choice. The toddler LOVED it from the get-go, and whenever she was sick or we were snowed in or the weather was bad, it was either the movie or the picture books or playing with the dolls...I can almost quote the entire movie, word for word.

Whereas Tangled...it wasn't bad, not really. She liked it. I liked it. But it lacks something I can't put my finger on, and it just sort of fades into the background for me. (It did for the kid too)

(Big Hero Six made her fall in love with Fall Out Boy, just as another Disney story to share. Watching a three year old sing "American Beauty/American Psycho" is hilarious.)

For me Tangled's music was a little bit more forgettable(but Frozen's got some forgettable songs as well) but the characters were what I enjoyed about it the most. Either way I like both movies but for different reasons.

I don't care that much about either, tbh. (I grew up with Disney, so it isn't like I hate all the films.)

They were both okay films (Zachary Levi was good in Tangled, and I found Elsa weirdly hot; “Let it go" was catchy but none of the other songs stuck with me) I just don't have much desire to watch them again.

My little sister and I both greatly preferred Frozen and we were both really bored during Tangled. We were also quite bored by the Princess and the Frog.

Granted I Do Not want to watch Frozen over and over and over like I made my poor Mum do with Beauty and the Beast but if it makes my lil sis happy? Alrighty.

We also quite like Despicable Me

(Anonymous) 2015-08-22 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Mother Gothel was a pretty interesting villian. The rest was either really generic or done better by frozen. Especially the songs.

Imo, Tangled had the better plot but Frozen had the most interesting characters. And by character, I mean Elsa and her relationship with Anna.

Not saying that Rapunzel's relationship with Mother Gothel wasn't interesting, but among the characters, that was the one I found most interesting to see.

I agree completely. People can essay about the objective quality of the movies as much as they want, but Tangled bored me and none of the songs were catchy or memorable. Whereas Frozen gave me so many emotions on every level.

Between Treasure Planet and now, the only memorable Disney film has been Wreck-it-Ralph.

It just annoys me that both movies have overshadowed The Princess & the Frog which I loved much, much more than either of them.

God, I hated the music in Frozen so, so, so much, and as far as I can tell it's the big selling point for the people who do like it so needless to say I don't agree. Am I the only one? What are other people hearing when I hear the falling-off-a-cliff vocal style of "Let It Go"? I just needed to get that off my chest, sorry. (And no, I don't just dislike pop music as a rule.)

I think they're both pretty good. But I guess I tend to like Frozen more. But I'd never say this in public or outside this fourm. Mostly because almost everyone I know is constantly screaming about how awful and racist Frozen is, despite the fact that they've never actually seen it.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-23 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Tangled was better than Frozen in every way but the music (and I'm only saying that much because I'm a huge Broadway fan).

Both movies were good. Tangled felt more put together and I felt for BOTH the main characters. I liked Anna, but I only truly FELT for Elsa.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-23 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
This is exactly how I feel, but in the reverse.

Tangled is joyful and fun, is directed really well (those moments of silence!) with beautiful sets and great characters and catchy songs. It's warm and funny, and has a villain-hero relationship that is really interesting.

Frozen is dull, with horribly plain art direction (white. Fields and fields of white. Surely there is more to be done with snow than just big blank sheets of white), focuses on the wrong character, has a phenomenally stupid plot (what the fuck, lock your magic kid in a room? How is that helping anything??), terrible songs with horrendous orchestration, a dull villain, and is just generally pointless.

So yeah, personal taste is a funny thing, I guess.

I thought they were both awful. The character design with the huge eyes freaks me out a bit. And the plots were both bland and had issues in my opinion. However, I will say that as a teacher, I've noticed Frozen is definitely more memorable. I never really had any children interested in Tangled, even when it had just come out. Whereas Frozen just. Won't. Die. Already. Kids are still pretending to be Elsa and Anna and are still singing the songs. It definitely captured their attention and imagination way more than Tangled did. For good or for ill.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-25 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I would probably like Frozen more if Elsa wasn't in it which makes little sense as far as the plot goes. I really hated her. I hate the fact that Let It Go is popular even though the context in the movie is basically "Suicide is the answer."

Most people just like it because siblings, but I don't have any so there's nothing there.
