The worst for me is still Chrono Trigger, with the main character robot having a vaguely romantic connection to a pink robot. No other robot in the entire game is pink, there doesn't seem to be any in-universe reason for this one to be pink, and it feels out of place when everything else in that entire time period is so drab and colorless. They're robots, so they're not romantically involved in the same way humans would be, and I wouldn't have read any gender into their relationship if it weren't for the pink.

Come to think of it, that's probably why Ash's Butterfree's girlfriend Butterfree was pink too. Now I'm retroactively annoyed.

Female Pikachus have a slight difference in their tails in that their tails end in a heart shape. I know because of reasons......

That would actually annoy me less if it weren't added in retroactively.

I always assumed it was pink because it was ~unique~. It seemed logical to me that half of the Butterfrees in that flock would be female, after all.

It's a damn shame they didn't make shiny Butterfrees pink later on. Missed opportunity, there. Of course, Game Freak/Nintendo does the game stuff and anime is based on that, not the other way around...
