Yeah, because Fuller obviously cares so much about making "Hannibal" more marketable... Just when everybody started to say "men, TV shows need more snails" and "why aren't snails on Hannibal?" I just knewwe were going to get lots of snails on "Hannibal". Or that time when Hannibal forced Gideon to eat parts of his own body and I was like "oh, yes, Fuller, ffs, don't take any risks, be that bland that even Disney Channel looks indie next to you".

DA Marketable to men, who supposedly like both gross things and hot chicks.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
And hot men in love, apparently.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Is the slash overt?

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
'Is Hannibal in love with me?'

You tell me.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-25 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
It's overt in that the two are clearly obsessed with one another but it's not a sexual relationship of any kind.

Make a show that has things that dudes like, then make the hot male leads really close in a way that will make women think they want to fuck without men noticing anything out of the ordinary, and then laugh all the way to the bank

WORKED FOR SUPERNATURAL

Uh, there have been several references to Hannibal being in love with Will though. They were not the kind of thing you could miss; last episode Will straight (lol) up asked “Is Hannibal in love with me?" and his psychiatrist answered “Yes".

Um, not that I disagree, but I think you might have meant to respond to a different post?

I thought you were suggesting that there was only extremely vague subtext in regards to Hannibal/Will, and I disagreed. You are allowed to think that of course though!

Haha, no, I was just making a dumb joke

OOPS, my bad anon!

She said he was drawn to him but it clearly wasn't intended to be romantic or sexual in context even if Fuller was baiting the shippers.

It seemed very romantic to me. (Er, not like, “Wow, Hannibal is such a romantic!", like “Hannibal has severely fucked up romantic feelings for Will".)

As for sexual, idk (I've never thought too much about that aspect of their relationship), but I think we took very different things away from the show.

It's okay, they can have it both ways. Not overt enough to make the men uncomfortable, but a little bit because Hannibal is really fucked up and a criminal, and sometimes they're a bit perverse in other ways.

Plus, fangirls!

I... really disagree. They dropped the L bomb. And Will said "Is Hannibal in love with me?", which has a much more explicitly romantic connotation than "Does Hannibal love me?" might have.

But of course there can never be romantic overtones between the male leads of a show for any reason but "baiting the shippers". m/m relationships are just fodder for those silly slash-obsessed girls!

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Will Graham is heterosexual and married to a woman.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Because bi guys never marry women. Ever.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Fuller said Will is heterosexual.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-25 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
And Fuller said that the sexy orderly would come back and he never did. Fuller a dirty liar.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-25 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
This is like TJLC for Hannibal fans. "They lie! That means we're right and they're doing things exactly how we think they are, sooooo gaaaaayyyy!"

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Cause violence never sells, right? I'm not saying its a show that never takes risks, but there was no reason to make Margo femme, except to make that shoehorned in plot where she sleeps with Will a male fantasy.

(Anonymous) 2015-08-24 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a show about Hannibal Lecter, cannibalism is to be expected.
