I can explain toxic masculinity in relation to all the fucked up things men do in 5 simple but true words: Testosterone is literally a poison.

I don't know if you're being hyperbolic, but this might be literally true! There's a number of studies out there that point to the idea that testosterone might be a harmful chemical that damages the bodies ability to function and the brains ability to develop. It's bee compared to nicotine being introduced to young people.

Did those studies include normal men, or just the professional wrestlers, and baseball players on 'roids?

Mmmm essentialism. Trans men often say they feel CALMER with T though, not a sudden urge to go out and kill shit.

A lot of people feel calmer when they've had a cup of coffee. That doesn't make caffeine a sedative, it just means that chemical interactions are a hell of a lot more complex than an on/off binary.

Also that having your gender affirmed is probably a hell of a lot more soothing than any amount of chemical influence could possibly be expected to overcome, in your particular example.

ayrt Yeah, like I'm sure testosterone isn't a sedative, you know, but trans men who have earnestly considered whether testosterone will make them aggressive, have tended to report that it doesn't. And in their case, because they were so relieved to be finally getting what their male brains needed, the exact opposite.

I'm sure that high levels of testosterone have some behavioural influence, but in a really complex way that depends on the particular psychology of an individual. From what I understand, most of one's psychological makeup is learned, including disinhibitions to violence.

That is just because they levelled up and have gained social privilege through it. They no longer feel angry and demeaned at being treated like women. Same pretty much with non-T men. Treat them with the same level as having the same level of social privilege as their female equivalent and they rage and wangst all over the place. It just proves T men are real mean.
