i guarantee it's only kids who think it's bad tbh. When I was pre-transition and in high school, ~genderbend~ stuff was like water for me bc it was one of the only ways I could get anything close to an outlet for myself, and I KNOW I'm not the only one. Now kids have no context or recognition of even just barely older trans peoples' relationship with this stuff so it's automatically bad and problematic.
Also, tbh the people who are mad that r63s aren't trans versions of the characters tend to have really... not...great... ideas about what representing a character as trans means.
