Elizabeth who?

Bioshock

That's what I thought, since the game is kinda recent. (And since Ken Levine mentioned the porn. I remember running into it a few times when browsing the tumblr tag. NGL, some of it was hot, and some of it was awful and made me go, "No, just no". That's the way of fandom, though.)

She's so cute and pretty and I have a crush on her (plus I ship her with Booker; the heart wants what it wants) but I never gave much thought to her sexually. (I was playing on 360 when the game was released and didn't play the DLC, so I still don't know what happens in that. Did it acknowledge her sexuality? The base story never did as far as I can remember, but the alt!Elizabeth DID have a much sexier feel to her in the trailers.)

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
She kinda plays up the sexiness in the DLC because hey, that's Rapture. She does it to manipulate people and look the part. But in the second half when you play as her, she comes across as still kinda innocent.

But yeah, people take the innocence and old Elizabeth being all virginal and stuff and think it means she's asexual? Which, I dunno, is kinda off the mark to me. You can be innocent about sex and still be attracted to people. And you can be celibate and still be attracted to people.

IA with that, but I have no idea what Elizabeth is; she could be anything! IIRC there aren't any 'hints', so it's all up in the air. Any way you want to imagine her could be correct...there's not much to go off of, so I allow people their headcanons.

Asexual works, as does straight or lesbian or bi. Any of it seems possible from what little we've seen.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's true. I just don't like a lot of the reasons people give for the asexuality because I think they're bothersome, not because I think she isn't. People say things like, "she's completely focused on getting out of Columbia/killing Comstock/saving Sally, she isn't shown having any interest in relationships, so she's asexual," and I'm like so what, being sexual means you can never be focused on anything except fucking people? A lot of it seems to be based on this idea that if you're attracted to people it's all-consuming all the time, which I don't like.

A lot of it seems to be based on this idea that if you're attracted to people it's all-consuming all the time, which I don't like.

If that's what people are implying, then I agree. It's a silly way to think.

Like, escaping Columbia and killing Comstock was a pretty massive thing to focus on; she probably didn't have much time to think about sex. This is partially why I find so many canon couples to be forced (especially in films), because there often isn't enough time to make the couple convincing while still dealing with all the issues the characters face. I don't think it's impossible by any means, but sometimes it just doesn't work.

Now, it would've been easy enough to reference her sexuality while not focusing on it (she could've made a throw-away comment about finding an NPC attractive, etc) and I wouldn't have minded it, but I'm okay with things as is too.

See, I totally see shipping her with Booker, but let's face it, the femsub thing is usually built right into any daddy/daughter relationship; the power dynamic is a huge part of what makes it hot in the first place. So I can see where that's coming from, at least.

The creepy gangrape porn and stuff, though... that's just fuckin' weird.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-06 03:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ya know the weird thing is I haven't seen shippers usually got that way with it. Usually they have her be more dominant or they're on equal footing. Or a lot of times he's like BUT SHOULD WE DO THIS YOU'RE SO YOUNG AND INNOCENT and she's like SHUT UP AND SEX ME.

I like how literally every response is a different character(s).

But yeah, I have the same question. There's not even a lot of context here for us to figure out who it is, unless I guess this character has a lot of wank re: her sexuality in her fandom.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure the first response was the one that was actually correct

The Bioshock Elizabeth fan porn was finished recently, so I'm guessing Bioshock.

It's not that good, but StudioFOW for those curious.

Oh god that thing. The racist gangrape...wow.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
racist?

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
-all the Vox in that group are black, even though a LOT of Vox are white
-they all have stereotypical ghetto-ish accents and speech patterns
-it shows the propaganda posters of black Vox being subhuman beasts before and after the rape

I mean it was in bad taste to begin with what with it being a gangrape but that all made it worse.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-06 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
ah, you were talking about the new one. I thought you meant one of the previous videos and wondered. I haven't seen this one. Sounds kinda racist, but I guess that's what you get when you set porn in worlds like that of bioshock. And Bioshock WAS about the white people vs. the black people. the creators didn't go through with it because obviously white vs. black is uncomfortable to today'S audience, and would open up the whole problem of "you're stereotyping!" vs. "you're not authentic!"-accusations.
So, not having watched it, I'd view it as a "what if" scenario (as most porn of that sort is), the what if being "what if the vox populi really were the subhuman beasts they're painted as".
Being someone who enjoys rape scenarios in fiction AND racial and gender-equality and the like, I've encountered the problem that scenarios that turn me or others on often don't sit well with my moral compass. it's probably that stereotypes appeal to people on a very low level, which is perfect for porn. the black rapist is so ingrained as a stereotype that it just works, I guess... anyway, I'm dealing with it in a suspension of disbelief sort of way.

that said, being of the liberal left hippie sort, MY favorite gangrape fantasy is about being sexually exloited by a gang of macho yuppies in suits.

I mean I'm curious as to what OP is getting at, too.
