Or it lets the other characters mock/make fun of him but it's treated as okay because Tony's meant to be the butt of the joke. I hate that shit.
I also dislike in general when the boundaries you mention are broken by "TV families". Like I generally love how close the agents on Criminal Minds are but I really hate the times they pry into each other's lives like they have a right to know everything (especially when the person in question is trying to keep things private). It's always treated as good for them to open up or just that the other person is concerned. I just want to shake them and tell them to mind their own business and leave it alone.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)Plus, with the way this job takes such an emotional/mental/physical toll on the team, I think a lot of their nosiness also comes from the simple fact that whatever concern they show for each other on a professional level isn't always so easy to just naturally turn off when it comes to being involved in each other's lives outside of work, no matter how good things are going in their personal lives.
All of that said, however, I do agree that they should have some limits and boundaries when it comes to getting so nosy about each other's personal lives. I can understand being concerned if something's affecting them professionally, but outside of work, yeah, everyone deserves some privacy.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)The show mentions in-show that it's difficult not to profile each other but if they're doing that, they should get called out on it, not treated like it's an okay thing to be too nosy in each other's lives. When they do mention it, it doesn't bug me as much.
Lots of shows do this where one person pesters another to open up and it's always shown as being good that they forced that person to open up. I hate that.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)I do like the moments where they call someone else out on profiling them. It would be a tough skill to turn off, for sure, given their job, but like you said, there's times when they really don't need to do it.
And even if they want to continue to show concern, there's ways to let people know you're there for them if and when they do want to talk without getting too intrusive, too. All these years later, their love and support for each other has been made pretty obvious, so yeah, I think if they really need help, they're well aware they can turn to each other if absolutely necessary.

(Anonymous) 2015-09-05 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)Regarding Criminal Minds, I also remember the time Rossi tried to convince Morgan - or was it Prentiss? - to go back to church. I usually love Rossi but I really hated this episode because he was proven right at the end.
I really hate when characters proselytize, especially when they're shown to be in the right.
