All of it? I don't know if I can choose just one thing.

I hope nobody remembers the time I got drunk on a train and decided since it made my lip feel numb, it would be a fantastic time to pierce it. I did get the safety pin through, but I couldn't close it because my lip wouldn't fit. In hindsight, that was a good thing because I took it out before it healed enough to leave a permanent hole.

If I could go back in time and punch one version of myself in the face, it would definitely be 14 year old me.

you must have very high pain tolerance D: Piercing your lip with a safety pin with no anaesthesia but alcohol? I know I'd just yell at the top of my lungs and probably lose consciousness if someone tried that on me.

Good thing it ended well, though.

I do have very high pain tolerance. I have dislocations and subluxations in my joints all the time, so piercing my lip was small time. It wasn't something I realised until I got elbowed in the face by an enormous man in a mosh pit, and my friends were yelling and trying to check if I still had all my teeth, and I was like "guys nothing is broken. chill" that maybe I was the weird one. I didn't even move. I was just standing there still watching the band play like nothing had happened.

Unintentionally badass.

Let a friend prank call someone from my house. Holy shit. She started cursing out the girl who she prank called (she lived in our neighborhood) and all this other stuff. I kept telling her to stop (I was mouthing to her and shaking my head and everything), but what I should've done was yanked the phone off the hook. I don't know why I didn't. And it wasn't innocent things like "I'm Mr. Clown...", it was stuff like "you're fat and ugly and I'm going to kick your ass, bitch."

Ironically she became friends with the girl, and sometimes said "I should tell her it was us that one time." Thankfully she never did AFAIK.

When I was in middle school, there was this weird kid in some of my classes. He wore camo to school every day, was obsessed with guns and and school shootings, and generally got a reputation for being that weird, creepy kid.

Anyway, one night I was going to a party at my mom's workplace, and I decided it might be funny to expose the them all to some creepiness. So I brought that kid's phone number (from the school directory). I started calling him on the basement phone, when no one was down there. But I always hung up before anyone at his house could pick up. So, on his end, the phone kept ringing but no one was ever there if he answered.

Well, as I expected, after doing this for a while, the creepy kid called the office back. And to make things even better, my mom picked up (on the phone upstairs). According to her, the person on the phone asked who was calling. My mom told him no one was calling him from this office. The phone was right there, and no one had made any calls. He insisted someone was calling, and my mom asked him the number that had called him, and apparently the number he gave wasn't quite right. So she told him "that's not even our number" and he started cussing her out, until she hung up.

It never even occurred to her that someone could have been making calls from the basement phone. She never had any idea.

So, you did this to a random kid several times and still call him creepy?

I was a weeaboo and a weeabrit/teaboo. I used both random Japanese words and random British slang. I kept it mostly to the internet, but that might be worse because it could still be out there somewhere.

Flirted with a teacher at a school dance because he looked young enough to be a senior. Finally he was like "I teach here" and I basically ran for it.

In hindsight, it's also disturbing because it could've ended really badly had he not been a decent person.

Scary, yeah, but disturbing? It's not his fault he looked young.

Unless that's not what you meant.

(that is pretty embarrassing though, and I'm glad he was honest, too!)

Wrote lots of Mary-Sueish stories with self inserts. But that was before the internet, so nobody mocked me for it and I learned to write better over time.

this is why bad writing isn't a bad thing - because you do get better! So obviously it's good that you did that! :)

I can't think of any particular thing that makes me cringe that wasn't directly fueled by mental health issues. I was a pretty tame teenager. Most of the stuff I did that was embarrassing could have happened to anyone. One of my favorites though was I fell loudly (and dented the throat of my horn) in an echoey sanctuary as I was walking out to play for a recital...and the guy I was crushing on was there. (Funny in hindsight, though.)

Half the stuff I posted to forums.

I still go to some of them and surprisingly, people like me anyway. :P I think it helps that they knew I was young and just kind of waited for me to grow up.

Oh, god, this. I think most of the forums I used to frequent as a teenager long ago folded, which is a major relief to me. I never said anything cruel or horrible or threatening, thankfully, in my case it was more just typical "teenager who's still figuring out how the world works" sort of crap. But still. I think back on it all and cringe anyway, and am further reminded of why I'm glad that Twitter and Facebook weren't around when I was a teenager.

Yelled at a writer for not updating her fics.

I have no idea why. Even at the time I realized in hindsight how mean it was, and left an apology. I think other people were doing it and I got carried away. :(

Nothing other than being super quiet and awkward. Then again, I've not grown out of that.

I was a tryhard a lot of the time in high school because I really wanted to fit in. The same on the internet I became 'friendly' with some really creepy people at some point, and wrote some stuff back then that leaves me cringing or shocked,wondering how I could possibly think that was a good idea.

But not being a teenager didn't stop me from being embarrassing. I still do embarrassing shit as an adult from time to time (I still shudder thinking about last September for example.)

But at least I'm learning from it all.

I had my angst on. Very drama, much self harm. *a dogge pic*

- went to see Les Mis and cried because I identified SO MUCH with Eponine!

- told a friend I had a crush on her brother, and was at the time mystified by her reaction. why WOULDN'T you want to know that?

- went through a phase of dressing like a 1920s mobster.

- went through a phase of thinking I was asexual. (no, past me, you're just socially awkward, afraid of relationships, and probably bisexual or gay.)

- decided I would give my mother a heartfelt birthday gift - a handrawn black & white "manga" comic in felt-tip pen about a girl who commits suicide. i can't remember the exact plot of it, but i didn't understand why this would upset my mother. believe it or not, this was NOT intended as a guilt trip. i 100% wanted to please her with my art.

these are not the only things. i have so many more stories of my social incompetence.

- went to see Les Mis and cried because I identified SO MUCH with Eponine!

When I was in 10th grade, my school choir got to take a trip to New York City for a few days and had a choice between seeing 'The Music Man' or 'Les Miserables'. Since I'm so familiar with 'The Music Man' by way of the fact I'm from the town that inspired that musical, I chose 'Les Mis', as did a friend of mine.

Cut to the two of us sitting there clutching each other and bawling our freaking eyes out at the end of the play.

(To be fair, my dad had been going through some serious health issues not long before that trip, so I think the memories of that impacted some of my feelings throughout that play, but still...)

in retrospect my school was a homophobic shithole and taught me all the things that made me self-hating and violent so i can't feel too badly about it tho

Hahah I actually went back and graffitied up my school after I left. What makes it embarrassing is that it was a privately run school (my parents had little money and made us work in the family business for it and ignored our requests to go to a state run school). I spray painted stuff about it being a rort to get the rich and stupid into higher education. I also brought my two much younger sibs along. I suppose I'm only semi embarrassed about it though.

That school was a homophobic shithole too, and I hated hated hated it.

Barely avoided charges of credit card fraud after getting some valid-but-not-assigned card numbers and running up hundreds of dollars in phone sex calls FROM MY HOME PHONE. Took some finagling and a couple telephone impersonations to successfully stonewall them enough that they couldn't pin down anyone to press charges on. Stupid, horny Past Me...
