Re: Car Questions

Out of curiosity, are you focused on a small car for reasons other than it being just you? Because I think you'll have a hard time finding something that's good for winter weather that's also small (I would recommend a SmartCar because tiny, but also they have rear wheel drive and would be awful on ice or snow). FWIW, I am the only person in my car 99% of the time, but I have a Toyota Corolla and it doesn't feel excessive or like I'm drowning in all this extra car real estate. And it was nice to have the backseat and trunk for when I moved.

I'd prefer a smaller car for parking. I have anxiety when it comes to parking; I always feel like I'll hit the cars around me even when there's plenty of room. A small car would calm my nerves.

I've researched SmartCars; I'm still confused about the winter driving. I've seen a video of someone driving it over ice for a long period of time and read from many owners that it's great for winter. On the other hand, I've also read that it's not good on snow. It does fine in the youtube videos I've watched at least. In any case, my current car has been doing a terrible job for the past year; it got stuck in the driveway every other day and my commute increased by about half an hour because I had to drive really slowly to avoid spins.
