I think what you say could in theory be true, but I think it is enormously unlikely to actually be true, unfortunately

I'm excited about it. I am having a really hard time with Twelve, so much so that I haven't even been able to finish season eight yet. But I'm very interested to see how Twelve and River interact.

What? She is? Damn, I am so over her. Get some new ideas, Moffat.

Soooo many old characters, why does Moffat have to keep bringing HER back? I've heard people say she's his answer to RTD and Jack Harkness but Jack showed up nowhere near as often as River or had so much of the series revolve around him.

I'm just done with Moffat. Please someone fresh take the reigns!

Wild pet theory of mine but I honestly think Moffat reads far too much Tumblr, and bases all his decisions on the squeeing fans therein. E.g., everyone played up the "fluffy" moments in S2 Sherlock (which didn't exist), Moffat thought that's what "the fandom" wanted, ergo, S3 Sherlock. By my theory, all the squeeing and gifsets and general stanning over River on the Tumblr echo chamber makes Moffat think rehashing a character that died the first time we saw her is a great idea. (Can she die again please?)

I suspect it's a few things with Moffat... like this is the "type" of woman he finds sexy, and he thinks he's getting two for the price of one because everyone knows that women who kick ass are automatically pro-feminist, so score! But then I think the same thing about Joss Whedon and his female characters.

I can hardly wait. I adore her, and I really like Capaldi's Twelve, so I think we're going to see some epic interactions. Is it Dr. Who Time yet?

I disagree, but that is okay. As long as you aren't trying to ruin the excitement of those of us who are excited, there is nothing wrong with not wanting her to come back. Personally, I really love River, I love Alex, and I'm really excited to see how she interacts with Capaldi's Doctor. The only thing that would make me more excited would be also having Missy in the Christmas special because I want to see River and Missy interact.

I didn't realize she was coming back. (I'm so behind on Doctor Who news.)

This doesn't excite me (I enjoyed River at first but I didn't like the way her storyline progressed) but maybe it won't be so bad.

I wasn't a massive Clara fan either but she was enjoyable to watch with Capaldi.

Sorry you don't like the news, but for me, this is probably the most exciting Who thing to happen for awhile. I'm still iffy on Twelve in general, haven't quite finished his first season (though I think I only have a couple episodes to go until the end). But I would definitely be interested in seeing how Twelve and River play off each other. So I guess I better catch up!

For someone who shaded RTD so heavily for not letting go of his companions, you'd think Moffat would be better at it himself.

I kinda agree because I didn't really like River, but I'm also curious to see the Capaldi-River interaction. Honestly, I just want Doctor Who back on tv. Like, now.
