The only Malfoy I thought didn't work was Narcissa, and it's not the actress's fault her styling was ridiculous...

What was with Narcissa's hair? Who thought that was a good idea? I did like her in DH, though. Not look wise, but acting wise.

I really liked her acting as well. It's a shame her hair was such a distraction, I mean really, what WERE they doing? Why? It made no sense.

Oh, but that wasn't the only questionable design decision. I mean Lupin's werewolf form. What. Just what.

Oh yes. The werewolf. What was that? I actually think POA may be the one of the movies I had the most problem with. I can see that filming style wise and artistically it is the best of the movies. But I think that as an adaption it was the worst. I just have so many problems with it. And I don't think Cuaron really understood the characters.

It's true. I felt it especially keenly since book 3 was my favorite, and the movie just did not do it justice at all.
I think my favorite movie was actually GoF. It wasn't a *good* movie by any means, but it actually entertained me a lot when I saw it in theaters, more than possibly any of the others. But construction-wise, I think it would be very difficult to follow if you didn't know the books.

DH of course had my favorite scene, the romantic one where Harry and Voldemort jump out of a window together. The entire theater I was in burst into giggles. There, and when Voldemort announced that Harry was dead. Worst line delivery ever.

Yes, the final battle. I admit I was disappointed that in the book Harry and Voldemort didn't really fight. But if it is a choice between the book version and what they gave us in the movie, I'll take the book every time.

GOF is my favorite of the movies too. GOF is my favorite of the books. I actually really enjoyed the first two a lot. My favorites are GOF and DH part 1, though.

I don't think Cuaron even cares about trying to understand the characters--at least not when he's doing an adaptation of a book. They're just pegs to hang his visuals on. I remember how much his remake of A Little Princess was cried up and adulated...and it showed absolutely zero grasp of Sara's character--or anybody else's for that matter.

Oh, yes, another adaption of his that I don't like. Although not quite as bad as the Shirley Temple one. But yes, he really didn't understand Sara at all. There is actually a good adaption out there.

THERE IS??????

OMG I MUST KNOW OF THIS!

Thank you!

(Even at $189...eeeek! Thank you just the same! Yes, I would trust Wonderworks for a faithful adaptation.)

Oh, ouch. I got it for much cheaper a few years ago. It was about 30 I think.
