The comic Civil War was shit, but not because of the idea. It was actually an interesting idea just executed badly.

Civil War was shit because:
1) It completely derailed Speedball
2) Mark Millar didn't communicate with other writers what was going on
3) Tony Stark was reduced to a two-dimensional dictator
4) The Registration Act is something X-Men have been covering for AGES and have had it done well.
5) Continuity errors (for instance, Matt/Daredevil was either in jail or dead at the time yet they have him show up even though that's supposed to be Danny Rand as DD)
6) Annihilation and Annihilation Conquest were happening at the same time and was a much better even and had more pressing concerns than the Cap vs Tony pissing match.
7) One More Day is a direct result of this bullshit
8) And most infuriating of all, NOTHING CHANGED. Sure, Steve died and Bucky took over and that was fun, but the status quo was returned within a few years bar OMD/Spider-Marriage

So yeah, the comic sucked. But seeing as how points 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 do not apply to the MCU, the movie doesn't have to draw too much from the source material.

The only reason I'm worried it might suck is because the amount of characters they are cramming in. Personally, I'm convinced the movie is either gonna be really good or really bad. However, I do admit, I'm excited for more shitting on Tony so long as he has growth.

Oh, come on, Penance Speedball was fucking hilarious.

Yeah, I personally am bitter over the amount of characters in what is still titled Captain America. Tony got a whole movie to be depressed and hang out by himself, and Cap doesn't even get a movie without 52498243 characters in it. Boo.

I still think "Civil War" violated certain premises of how the Marvel Super-Heroes worked. Their flagship character is a masked loner with a secret identity. To throw out those kinds of characters in favor of ALMOST EVERYONE working for and/or being locked up by the government was a kind of madness.

Most of my Marvel friends don't seem to understand why I'm still so bitter about number seven, but damn am I bitter.

(I found Bucky!Cap boring though and hope they use Sam!Cap instead for MCU. Though if Steve does die in MCU, I've no doubt that just like the comics it won't be permanent.)
