fat people and unhealthy eaters

i know it's more the food industry's fault than anything, but ugh how can you put some of that stuff in your mouth without wanting to vomit

If someone's been raised to eat unhealthy food, surrounded by it, they're not going to know any different, so to those people it's going to taste good.

Today I ate a chicken drumstick (fried chicken yum yum) by dipping it into my mashed potatoes and gravy before taking a bite. I hope this bothers you a lot, because that will just add to my enjoyment!

NA

I don't know why that should bother AYRT as that's not unhealthy food? Unless everything was frozen/powdered food chicken, potatoes and gravy isn't particularly unhealhty. And even if none of it was home-made, as long as it's not the only thing you ever eat it's not a bad meal.

I figured AYRT was talking more along the line of fast food and processed food.

NAYRT but fried chicken and gravy are insanely fatty and usually very salty to boot.

Maybe you're being generous, but there's no way that fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy are healthy foods. Sure, they're fine if you eat it in moderation, but that's not what "healthy" means.

I hope you don't think fat people all eat unhealthily, or thin people don't, but I'm guessing you kinda do.

idk either. i don't understand how people can eat things dripping with grease without getting physically ill.

I'm fat and an unhealthy eater because I am poor. (And please don't give me the "you can eat beans for every meal!" spiel, because no.) I would love to eat healthy. I love fresh fruits and vegetables. I am really tired of Ramen and pasta and white rice and hot dogs and all of that cheap, processed food. But right now, it is my only choice. I might not want to vomit, but it doesn't mean I love what I'm eating.

Just curious (not trying to judge, and don't feel like u have to answer).. why is beans not a food option? Is it needing somewhere to cook them, the time taken to prepare them, do they make you ill, or?

nayrt - I do eat some beans, but beans for every meal like the previous anon said? Fuck no. If you're starting with dried beans (which you would, if you were looking for the cheapest option) then yes, it takes extra time to prepare, and the cooking skills and ingredients to make it not taste like cardboard. I don't blame anyone for not being enthusiastic about eating a lot of beans.

ayrt Oh yeah for sure, just curious as to why they couldn't eat any beans. But from the sound of it they are forced to eat already prepared stuff.

AYRT
It was as the other anon said. Invariably when someone brings up eating badly because they are poor, someone jumps in with "you could eat beans!" Which I can, but that is not a viable option for every meal, as it takes a long time to prepare and it gets boring.

I don't necessarily eat a lot of prepared foods. But pasta, for example, is $.50-$1 a box which I can put $.50 of various sauces or some butter and spices on it for a really cheap meal ($1 or so) that varies depending on the sauce. And which is filling. Or I can spend $3 per pound for fruits and vegetables, which go bad more easily and which aren't as filling.

I like to cook, but I spent three years with one day off every six weeks or so. And my jobs weren't office jobs, but rather physically demanding/stressful jobs. And before I got the second and third jobs, I couldn't afford a car, so I was walking the three miles to and from work which also is demanding. (Plus makes it difficult to grocery shop.) I just don't have the time or energy at the moment (or the resources sometimes) to cook complex things and I also just don't have the money to buy healthy things when the unhealthy ones are cheaper and more filling.
