AGREED> Insufferable busybodies, most to all of the time.

You have no right to heckle and harass a stranger for what they're eating. I don't care if they're chubby and "wahh your taxes". Butt the fuck out.

The tax thing makes me roll my eyes so hard. Guess what, people, everyone's taxes will inevitably go towards something they may personally not support at some point. Get over it.

I usually see that excuse trotted out for judging people on food stamps or fat people. With people on foodstamps , they'll act like if someone buys anything but necessities they're abusing the system. With fat people it's "my taxes go to your healthcare"...or something.

Honestly I'd rather my taxes go to someone buying nice things for themselves then something like the over militarization of the police or for wars.

YES. This. Exactly.

I'm so sick to death of the food stamp/abuse the system debate. So, so deeply sick of it. I just want the people who bitch about it to try living on those things for a while and see how well they fare, or how "pleasant" it is to live that way. Same with the healthcare thing. Personal experience with both things in recent years has left me REALLY twitchy and lacking any patience towards people who feel the need to get all judgmental and dismissive/insulting towards poor people or people who struggle to get adequate healthcare.

I have absolutely no problem with my tax dollars going to help people take care of themselves and get better or at least be able to properly treat all the illnesses or diseases they have to deal with. None at all. Not only is it just a nice thing to support in and of itself, but this country will also run so much better as a whole if people are healthy mentally, emotionally, and physically. That is beneficial to society at large in the long run, and I fail to see how that can be a bad thing.

"and I fail to see how that can be a bad thing"

To be honest I think that on some level some of them think they people who are poor should have to deal with it because they assume them being poor is their own fault, or something about going through hardship building character.

Oh, definitely. If they just worked a little harder, if they just avoided getting sick in the first place, if they just did this or did that, then all their problems would be solved! Or something. Because apparently it's just that simple and poor people are too stupid to realize that, I guess.

As for the "hardship builds character" thing, I will say that it is indeed amazing sometimes to see how people can make the best of the rough situations they find themselves in, and I do commend people for all they do to deal with their problems as best they can...

...but of course, that still doesn't justify the bad shit they're going through happening in the first place, and I'm wary of anyone who would imply/state/believe otherwise.

Yeah. Just because they can make the best of being poor and they can make it change them in a positive way doesn't mean it's something that they should have to go through.

Sort of like just because someone managed to get something good out of their bullying experience and come out better doesn't make bullying a good thing to do.

Precisely.
