Inspired by #6

What are some "early seasons" you liked better, contrary to fandom opinion?

- I preferred Angel and Torchwood's first seasons respectively for the same reason. There were some pretty dark episodes, but they didn't seem dark for the sake of being dark. They were just... dark.

- I liked Community season one. There, I said it. I liked the other seasons enough, but it was too meta for me to suspend disbelief.

Totally agree with you about Torchwood.

The first season of "Community" is great. I think at worst, there might be a few episodes that could be called merely "good", if any.

I liked many of the meta/out there episodes, too-I liked seeing just how surreal the school could get and how creative and wild the show could be. But yeah, the simple, basic "everyday happenings at Greendale" ones are just as entertaining and hilarious, too.

Supernatural. Back when the show actually had a comedy focus.

This seems a common opinion, actually.

It might be outside the core fandom, I wouldn't know. All I hear from that corner is people raving over Cas and wanting more Dean being a woobie and ...ugh. Everything that eventually made me quit watching.

There seems to be three SPN camps: those who love it all, those who only love 1-5, and those who only love 1-2. And all three seem fairly popular opinions.

Well, while I don't like it better, I love Buffy season 1 equally to later seasons. And most people seem to think the quality is lower. But I love the Master and I loved the general plot.

While later seasons of Farscape are okay, the first two seasons are far and away my favorite.

I wonder if people forget that the first season of Buffy was supposed to be at least in part a satire of high school horror/horror in general. So the "silly plotlines" were supposed to be. I liked it too. Although I never took the Master very seriously. It's like Voldemort in the HP books, he always seemed a bit cartoonish onscreen.

Buffy season 1 is my fav because it's so campy and old-school and just so... 90s

Season 1 has at least one of the best episodes, I think.

CSI New York

I liked the grittier look of the sets and how dark it was shot. This was clearly not what everyone liked because they scrapped the unique look to make glass labs like every other CSI-type show. It looked really boring after that.

Still love S1's look.

Yes! It was my favorite CSI in the beginning for exactly that reason.

I liked it too.

season 2 was probably my favorite walking dead season

I like earlier episodes of Due South because I prefer Ray V, whereas fandom generally prefers Ray K.

I also like Trapper better than BJ on MASH, but overall I like later seasons because they tend to balance humor and tragedy better, and Nurse Houlihan improves as a character, and Frank leaves, so actually I'm with the general fandom opinion except for liking Trapper more.

Season 4 of House. Many people hated it cause of the change in the "ducklings", but I enjoyed it. It was season 5 and on that were crap....minus the last 6 episodes of season 8. That was like season 1 all over again. D:

First 2 seasons of Grey's Anatomy are the best but I think most people agree.
